Mild pressure hyperbaric oxygen therapy

Mild pressure hyperbaric oxygen therapy
While in the past it was thought that hyperbaric oxygen chamber only worked at high pressures (above 1.5 ATA) and low pressure protocols were only used as a control group in studies, there is now a lot of scientific evidence that low pressure hyperbaric oxygen therapy is also very effective.

Dr. Paul Harch, who has been treating brain and nervous system disorders with hyperbaric oxygen therapy in the US for over 30 years, believes that low pressure therapy is even better for such problems. The brain is a sensitive apparatus and does not want to be suddenly overloaded. Using oxygen in the cells is a big job for the body, and in the case of nervous system disorders, it can be said that less is more.

This page summarizes some of the studies showing the effectiveness of low pressure hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

LOW PRESSURE HAS MORE EFFECT ON GENE EXPRESSION

This study surprisingly reveals that low-pressure therapy (less than 1.5 ATA) had a significantly stronger effect on gene expression compared to high-pressure therapy (2.4 ATA).

10 SESSIONS WITH 1.3ATA PRESSURE INCREASED THE PRODUCTION OF STEM CELLS IN THE BODY 3X!

Recent study from 2023. Until now, high pressure (2.0 ATA) barotherapy with added pure oxygen was known to increase stem cell production 8x after 20 sessions. But it turned out that just 10 sessions with 1.3 ATA pressure and without any supplemental oxygen (just air) increased stem cell production by as much as 3x!

A STUDY COMPARING 3 DIFFERENT PRESSURE PROTOCOLS FOUND NO DIFFERENCE IN OUTCOMES

This study compared protocols with 3 different pressures:

- 1,3 ATA without added oxygen, just air
- 1,5 ATA with added oxygen
- 1,75 ATA with added oxygen

The study was conducted on children with cerebral palsy and they were followed for 8 months. Much to everyone's surprise, there was no difference in the results of the protocols. All of these produced powerful healing. This study changed the way many think about hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

EVEN VERY SMALL CHANGES IN PRESSURE CAUSE SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN THE BODY

Only in the last 20 years have we begun to investigate more precisely what changes in pressure do to the body, and it has turned out that even small changes in pressure create large physiological effects in the body. By now, it is clear that practically every pressure change between 1.0 ata (air pressure at sea level) and 1.3 ATA falls under hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Dr. Paul Harch has put together a comprehensive article showing the scientific evidence that even a change in barometric pressure of 1.04 ATA is an effective therapy at the cellular level.

1.6 ATA HAD A SIGNIFICANTLY STRONGER EFFECT ON BRAIN INJURY HEALING COMPARED TO 2.2 ATA

This rat study compared the effects of hyperbaric oxygen chamber on brain damage with different protocols. One group received therapy at 1.6ATA pressure, the other at 2.2ATA. It turned out that the 1,6ATA protocol was significantly more effective in healing brain damage.

HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY WITHOUT SUPPLEMENTAL OXYGEN AFFECTED GENE EXPRESSION MORE THAN WITH 100% OXYGEN

The study found that hyperbaric oxygen therapy changed the expression of 183 genes, but sessions with air had a significantly stronger effect than sessions with added oxygen. It can be concluded that pressure changes, not oxygen, are the main influencers of gene expression.
